Jalna, Police arrest 5 persons who were involved in looting Rs 2.72 crore from a courier van and Rs 1.24 crore were recovered from them. District SP Jyoti Priya Singh, said that the robbery had occurred on June 3 at Shelgaon, 15 km away from the Jalna town.

She added, "The van of the courier service of Gujarat, was carrying cash to Mumbai, when seven robbers travelling in two vehicles intercepted the courier van and looted cash Rs 2.72 crore".

A knife and a duplicate revolver along with two vehicles, which were used in the crime, were recovered from them.

According to the police, the accused might have been former employees of the courier service.

SP said, The courier service was carrying the cash from Amarvati and proceeding to Mumbai. Others two convicts are still at large. However, the further investigation is on.
