5 dead, several injured after New Farakka Express derails in Raebareli: Know helpline contacts

Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Oct 10 (NT): As many as five people killed and a number of others were injured after six coaches of New Farakka Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli on the morning of Wednesday. Reports suggested that the train's engine and five other coaches derailed 50 m from Harchandpur railway station. In the wake of the major accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district magistrate (DM), Superintendent of police (SP), health authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to give all possible help. CM Adityanath, while expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, has also issued order to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take all possible action. NDRF teams from Lucknow and Varanasi at present carrying out rescue operations on the mishap site. A team of doctors and an Accident Relief Medical Van have also been rushed to the accident spot from Lucknow. More details are awaited.

It is being told that the toll of dying people can still increase. Hundreds of injured passengers were taken to the hospital. Simultaneously, relief and rescue operations have been started on the spot. According to information, the New Farakka Express runs from Malda to New Delhi.
