Shillong: The Navy is going to join the rescue operation of five people trapped in Meghalaya's illegal coal mine. In fact, five people have been stranded here for the last 13 days due to waterlogging while illegally mining coal. The Navy had used advanced machines in 2019 and fished out three bodies from a waterlogged mine in the same state.

As part of the recent information received, East Jaintia Hills District Deputy Commissioner E Kharmalki said that a naval team is coming to the district headquarters for help. In fact, the water level had come down in the last few days after drawing water in the mine located in east Jaintia Hills district. The water level has once again increased due to rain. The rescue operation has been affected due to rain.

Around 60 personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and various agencies of the State are waiting for about 10 metres of water to be reduced in the 152 metre deep tunnel. It is said that he will now be able to do rescue work only after the water is running low.
