For most of the people weight loss seems to be a challenging task as the winter arrives and the level of mercury goes down. But turns out, cold weather can help you burn more calories. And the effects can be much greater and better if you know the appropriate procedure, which also involves eating a well-balanced diet. What dieters need to know is that winter weight loss needs a very different set of foods and ways than dieting in the hot summer months.

Dairy products

Milk is recognized as a complete food, but it is better to reduce its intake in winter. That’s because milk causes phlegm and can thicken the phlegm already present. Which makes you more annoying and increases the irritation in the throat. Further, dairy products also carry a varying amount of lactose - the milk sugar - which can slow down weight loss

Alcohol

As the temperatures drop, we usually tend to drink less water during winter, that defines the risk of being dehydrated is high. Alcohol may seem like a great choice to warm up your body but it dehydrates the body greatly which can be most damaging.

Sugar

Yes! Cold weather and hot chocolate go hand in hand, still, remember the impact of sugar on your weight and overall health. Besides that, many doctors consider that too much sugar can reduce your immune system. One research found subjects who had just consumed a lot of sugar weren't able to fight off bacteria as compared to those who had mostly water.

Red meat

While meat and eggs are considered as the best source of protein, you better watch what you eat if you are thinking of dropping off a few pounds. Red meat is also often compared with high levels of fat and weight gain, high protein can cause a build-up of mucus in your throat.
