Panaji: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major setback ahead of assembly elections in Goa. Five leaders of the TMC, including former MLA Lavu Sambhaldar, have withdrawn from the party. In his letter to Mamata Banerjee, he has said, "I do not want to live with a party which is trying to divide Goa.''

The leaders who resigned include Ram Mandrekar, Kishore Parwar, Komal Parwar and Sujay Malik besides Lavu Mahotsadar. He has said, "We joined the TMC with the hope that it would bring a bright day for the people of Goa and Goa. But it is unfortunate that TMC has not understood the people of Goa and Goa.'' Members who left TMC have questioned Mamata Banerjee's election campaign in Goa in their resignations. Referring to Prashant Kishore-led I-PAC, which has been strategising for TMC, he said, "The company that all of you have hired for your campaign in Goa is fooling the people of Goa. They have not comprehended the pulse of the people of Goa.''

The resigning leaders highlighted the recently launched Griha Laxmi Yojana in Goa under which TMC has promised Rs 5,000 per month to every woman in the state. He has alleged that "This clearly indicates that the Goa Griha Laxmi Yojana has a collection of data for the election of the company that all of you have hired, as they do not have any data on earth.''
