Dehradun: Rain is wreaking havoc In Uttarakhand. There has been continuous rain in many areas of Garhwal since Thursday (08 August). Late night Tehri and Chamoli were cloudy at two different places, killing several animals with 4 people dead. The rain has now led to the death of 5 people.

According to information, 2 people lost their lives due to cloudburst in Ghansali area of Tehri. Several animals have also been reported to have died. The cloud burst late at 2 p.m. at Thethali in Chamoli. Two persons were also reported killed in Srinagar due to heavy rains. Several culverts have also been washed away in many areas. Several houses were flooded with water and debris due to heavy rains. On receiving information, the police administration team and the SDRF team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.

The heavy rains, which started late in the night, reportedly engulfed a house in Mathana village in Dasholi Vikaskhand due to erosion of the Alaknanda river. While two houses are still in danger. The administration has evacuated the houses on the banks of the Alaknanda river and evacuated the people to safer places. The water level of Alaknanda and Mandakini river is also flowing above the danger level.
