Chaitra Navratri is the festival dedicated to Goddess Durga which symbolizes the 'Women power'.  The word Navratri means ‘nine nights’ and is celebrated twice a year, once right after the spring season (Chaitra Navratri) and the other before autumn (Sharad Navratri). On each day of Navratri, one avatar of Shakti is worshipped.

This year Chaitra Navratri is staring on March 18 and will end on March 25 with Ram Navami.

During the nine days of Navratri, the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshiped.

This year Navratri will have 8 days instead of 9 days as the Navami and Ashtami are following on the same day. Chaitra Navratri is staring at Savarth Siddhi Yoga, which is considered quite auspicious as per our religious texts.

Panchak Significance: Please, try to avoid doing these 5 things during Chaitra Navratri falls during the period of March-April in the Gregorian calendar. 

If you are thinking to keep fast on Chaitra Navratri 2018, then try to avoid this 5 mistakes 

-Do not get your haircut or go for shaving during this period.

-If you’re keeping a Kalash during Navratri and light an ‘Akhand Jyoti’, then never leave the house unattended.

-On Navratri, it is said that cutting a lemon is inauspicious. Also it is prohibited to consume non veg, onions and garlic during this period.
Never do these things on Wednesday

-According to Vishnu Puran, it is believed that the positive effects of Navratri fasting are nullified if you to take an afternoon nap.

-Don’t wear black clothes and stay away from leather products as well during Navratri.
