It’s responsible for pumping nutrient-rich blood throughout your body, it supplies oxygen while removing toxins and waste. As the center of your cardiovascular system, it is vitally responsible for just about everything that gives your body life, ranging from the transportation of oxygen to the success of your immune system. It is very important to keep your heart healthy. Here are 5 ways to keep your Heart healthy.

Less amount of Salt: Eating too much salt can lead to high blood pressure, a risk factor for heart disease. Limiting salt (sodium) is an important part of a heart-healthy diet. The American Heart Association recommends that. Healthy adults have no more than 2,300 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day (about a teaspoon of salt). Although reducing the amount of salt you add to food at the table or while cooking is a good first step, much of the salt you eat comes from canned or processed foods, such as soups, baked goods and frozen dinners.

No to toxic Substances: Even if you're not a smoker, be sure to avoid secondhand smoke or don’t be passive smoker. Chemicals in tobacco can damage the heart and blood vessels. Cigarette smoke reduces the oxygen in the blood, which increases blood pressure and heart rate because the heart has to work harder to supply enough oxygen to the body and brain.

Proper Sleep: Most adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night. Make sleep a priority in your life. Set a sleep schedule and stick to it by going to bed and waking up at the same times each day. Keep your bedroom dark and quiet, so it's easier to sleep. Insomania not only affects your heart but it also affect your mind. Proper sleep also help you to manage your stress which helps you to keep your heart healthy.

Physical Activity or Exercise: Exercise is very essential it doesn’t only keep your hearts healthy but it also helps you to keep your full body healthy. Physical activity can lower the risk of heart disease. Physical activity helps control your weight. It also reduces the chances of developing other conditions that may put a strain on the heart, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

Eat a Balanced diet: Add Vegetables and fruits, Beans or other legumes, Lean meats and fish, Low-fat or fat-free dairy foods, Whole grains and Healthy fats, such as olive oil in your diet. Unhealthy food directly affects your heart and it is the root cause of several heart related diseases.
