In the academic session 2018-19 under the Maharashtra’s state government Chatrapati shahu Maharaj EBC scholarship program schemes , the students studying in medical colleges , including MBBS and BDS from government institutions will be given 50% fees back.

The student’s who have family income less than 6 lakh per year will be reimbursed with 50% of the fees in their individual bank accounts which are linked with the Aadhaar card number.

The average fee for one year of medical studies is around half a lakh rupees and in some cases even more. Some well reputed private colleges have fees structure more than onke lakh too, and adding up the complete course of almost five years it becomes nearly impossible for middle class to pay such a huge amount.

The Maharashtra government has already said that the interest on the bank loans passed to the students will be an affair of the government now, but the students came on a strike in order to lower the fees. Later, the state government had to take a step to refund the fees.

This is only applicable for the government colleges and not for those who took admission through management quota and in private colleges run in the states.

The proceeding under this scholarship will start from the academic session of 2018-19.
