Kottayam : In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old woman was murder by a man and a minor, after which the duo was arrested yesterday at nearby Changanacherry.

The murdered occurred last week and came in front when, the woman identified as Sreelatha was found dead at her residence in Ithithanam village at Kuthirappady. A woman used to stay at her alone, after arriving from Warangal in Andhra Pradesh, where she served as a teacher.

According to the police, “the first accused Nivin Joseph and the minor are drug addicts. They allegedly hatched a conspiracy to rob the victim to deal with the financial difficulties faced by Joseph, who is married”.

“Reaching her house late one evening, they hit her fatally on the head with an iron rod and escaped with her gold ornaments,” police said. The relatives of woman found her body lying at her home next day.
