Kochi: So far, about 5,000 school teachers and members of staff in Kerala have not received corona vaccination shots. V Sivankutty, the state's education minister, stated on Sunday that he ascribed the situation to religious beliefs and ill health. He stated that the state administration will assess the issue regarding children's safety in the near future. He stated that the state government cannot encourage teachers and staff members who have not been vaccinated to attend school.

The minister went on to say, "We've started to collect data on it. The state administration has ordered that teachers who refuse to get vaccinated would be barred from teaching. Teachers are role models, and the government is closely scrutinising their actions. Because it is a question of kid safety, the topic will be brought to the attention of a commission that oversees coronavirus guidelines (rules)." There are around 1.6 million instructors and 25,000 non-teaching personnel in the state.

'The safety of children is our primary concern,' said the Education Minister. We can't rationalise the decision of instructors who refuse to receive immunisation. We're going to give them a little more time. The government will then take legal action against them." The majority of the teachers who did not receive the vaccine are from the north Kerala districts of Mallapuram and Kasargod. These teachers, according to an official, have not yet started school and are attending classes online.
