Commonwealth Day will be observed by 54 countries worldwide on Monday, with the Secretary-General giving a message of hope amid global crisis.

Each year, citizens of Commonwealth countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Americas, the Pacific, and Europe commemorate the day through a range of activities, including religious and civic meetings, flag raising ceremonies, and cultural events.

This year's celebrations, themed 'Delivering a Common Future,' will be momentous, honouring 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and role as Commonwealth Head. Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland emphasised the importance of Commonwealth cooperation in this time of global uncertainty in her annual speech.

"In an uncertain world when multilateralism is under pressure, the Commonwealth shines as a beacon of hope and promise, inspiring faith in the benefits of international cooperation and collective action. "We celebrate the diversity that makes us stronger and the similarities that enable us to collaborate." Our commonalities distinguish the Commonwealth in today's world. They enable us to meet the problems of the twenty-first century with clarity, unity, and purpose," she had stated.
