The arrest of a clever thug is in the news in Kerala these days. Police investigation revealed that 54-year-old Monson Mavunkal has cheated more than Rs 10 crore by building a museum of fake antique items in the last several years. Self-styled antique dealer Monson claimed to have rare antique items in his museum such as the throne of Tipu Sultan, clothes used by Jesus, cups used by prophet Mohammad Saheb. He had kept a museum of these fake antiques in his homes.

Not only that, but he also has a portal called http://monsonmavunkal.com in which he has posted photos of all these fake items. He has put up very impressive photos in this portal to deceive the viewer. The portal has several pictures of him like Portfolio in which he described himself as an acting enthusiast. All the photos have been taken from this portal. It also has two companies - Kalinga Kalyan Foundation and Cosmos Group. Clicking on these received a message from the portal under maintenance.

The same Monson had also purchased an expensive Porsche car in the name of actress Kareena Kapoor. All the artefacts have been found to be fake in the investigation of the Special Crime Branch. The complainants told the police that they had given loans without looking at the documents after being duped by these exhibitions. The document also contained a fake letter from a DRDO. The letter said that Monson has a chemical worth crores of rupees, which is used to launch rockets.
