57-year-old BSF, PM Modi says, force is always at the forefront of disaster and crisis

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the paramilitary personnel on the occasion of the 57th Raising Day of the Border Security Force (BSF), praising the country's security as well as its contribution to the hour of disaster and crisis. The BSF was established in 1965 to protect India's borders and curb international crime. This force falls under the jurisdiction of the Union Government's Ministry of Home Affairs.

PM Modi tweeted, "On foundation day, I congratulate the BSF family. BSF is widely respected for courage and professionalism. BSF has an important role to play in India's security and is at the forefront of many humanitarian tasks even in times of disaster and crisis.' Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, "BSF is an excellent example of valour, courage and dedication. Today, on the 57th Foundation Day of BSF, I wish all the brave prahari and their families on the first line of defence of the country. The entire country is proud of your valour and sacrifice to protect the motherland even under adverse circumstances.'

BSF is the world's largest border security force, which protects India's 6386.36 km long international border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. It currently has 186 battalions and 2.57 lakh jawans. On the occasion of its Foundation Day, BSF reiterated the responsibility for the country and its motto of 'Duty to Life'. The important role of the Border Security Force in Bangladesh's independence is unforgettable.
