Dehradun: 5G service may start in Uttarakhand by the middle of next year. Uttarakhand government has started preparations for this also. Secretary Shailesh Bagauli said that ITDA has been asked what steps are to be taken at the state government level for 5G service. At the same time, a roadmap has also been sought from BSNL for setting up 1246 mobile towers in areas without networks.

With the installation of these towers, the problem of connectivity in the remote areas of the state will be solved to a great extent. At present, there is no mobile network in more than 450 villages in the state. The state government is going to simplify the rules for the installation of towers to increase mobile connectivity. Under this, mobile towers can be installed in the buildings whose map is passed without any additional permission.

Along with this, towers can also be installed on vacant land without approval. At present, development authorities give permission to install mobile towers in urban areas, while the Panchayati Raj Department gives NOC for rural areas. But due to the lengthy process, the permission of the mobile tower is often stuck. Due to this, where the problem of call drops is increasing in cities, it is not expanding in rural areas. Here the central government has issued a new right-to-way policy for mobile towers. The state government is also adopting this policy here. According to Secretary IT Shailesh Bagauli, under the new policy, it will be enough to have a contract between the land owner and the company for the tower on the vacant site, similarly, in the buildings where the map is duly approved, without any additional permission, the tower could be installed without any additional permission.
