Silchar: On the issue of NRC draft after creating high-voltage political drama at Silchar airport yesterday, six TMC detained leaders left from Assam while the remaining two will leave later in the day, informed Cachar district DC.

The TMC delegation in which MPs Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Kakoli Ghosh, Ratna De Nag, Nadimul Haque, Arpita Ghosh, Mamata Thakur, Minister Firhad Hakim and MLA Mahua Moitra, were all set ready to visit Silchar on the issue of Assam's National Register of Citizens (NRC) draft .

According to the Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Agarwal, all 6 TMC Mps were detained under Section 151 of the CrPC to pass up possible disruption of law and order situation in the state. After this whole drama the leaders held a ‘dharna’ at the airport alleging misconduct from the police authorities.

Airport authorities even offered rooms to the TMC delegation for resting but the offer was declined by the leaders. Expressing her criticism to the detention, AITMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called it super Emergency and accused the Modi led BJP government of blood feud politics. Worth mention here Trinmool Congress is also planning to move a privilege motion against the Bhartiya Janta Party in Lok Sabha today during the parliament monsoon session.
