Six men allegedly ate a living langur monkey which is considered an endangered species. They also telecasted the entire event on social giant Facebook through live streaming. The weird incident took place in Vietnam and the accused men are aged between 35 and 59.

One of them purchased the langur from a hunter for 1.1 million dongs (£38) last month. They after that filmed themselves on a mobile phone while eating the monkey and live streamed the horrible incident on Facebook. The video went viral on all social media platforms, sparking fury across the world.

Police stated that the men, aged between 35 and 59, broadcast themselves on a mobile phone eating the extinct animal last month, according to the Straits Times.

The suspects were soon after recognized and arrested on Thursday this week.

"It took time for us to figure out the suspects involved," a police officer in Ha Tinh province asserted news agency AFP.

The langur is allegedly one of the 12 endangered species in Vietnam, with five of them considered significantly endangered, as per the Endangered Primate Research Centre.

This incident comes months after officials in Vietnam urged residents to keep away from eating dog meat, as part of a move to get rid of rabies.
