Damoh: Shocking news has come from a village in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, there is reportedly an evil practice being carried out here to please the deity for rain and to get relief from the drought-like situations. Now, yesterday, at least six girls were stripped and paraded in the village under the same evil practice. The matter has come to light recently. As per the information received in the matter, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of the incident and reported the incident to the Damoh district administration. After learning about the whole matter, officials said last Monday that the incident took place on Sunday at Bania village in Jabera police station area, about 50 kilometers from Damoh district headquarters in the Bundelkhand region.
Damoh District Collector S Krishna Chaitanya said the report will be submitted to NCPCR soon. On the other hand, District Superintendent of Police (SP) DR Teniwar said, "The police had received information that some minor girls were paraded naked to please the god of rain under the local practice of evil practice.'' At the same time, he further said, "Police are investigating the incident and necessary action will be taken.'' Villagers believe that the practice may result in rain. Under the information received, the little girls of the village were stripped naked and put a pestle on their shoulders, repeating the old belief due to lack of rain due to drought conditions and then tied the frog in the pestle.
Then, moving the girls all over the village, the women followed them with hymns. During this period, the women left the houses on the way asking for flour, pulses, or other food items, and whatever food items were collected were worshipped through Bhandara in the village temple itself. It is said that doing so causes rain. In the case, an official said that the parents of the girls were also involved in the incident and they did so under superstition.
