Coonoor: The bodies of 4 Indian Air Fars jawans and 2 Indian Army soldiers who were killed in an air crash in Coonoor district of Tamil Nadu have been identified. The bodies have reportedly been handed over to the families of the martyrs on Saturday morning.  After which he is going to be brought to Delhi for the funeral with military honours. At present, action is still underway to ascertain the cause of the accident. 13 people, including the country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat, lost their lives in the MI-17V5 accident.

The process of identification of the bodies of Lance Naik B Sai Teja and Lance Naik Vivek Kumar has been completed on Saturday. In addition to General Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, CDS wife Madhulika Rawat, staff officer Lt Col Harjinder Singh also lost their lives in wednesday's incident. Brigadier Lidder has also been given a final farewell on Friday. In addition, Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan, Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh, Junior Warrant Officer Rana Pratap Das, Junior Warrant Officer Arakkal Pradeep, Havaldar Satpal Rai, Naik Gursevak Singh, Nayak Jitendra Kumar have lost their lives.

The Army had said on Thursday that the Indian Army was taking all necessary measures to identify the bodies in view of the sentiments of the families of the deceased.  Where it has been revealed that 'family members of the deceased jawans are reaching Delhi. All necessary assistance is being provided.' The Army has said that the bodies will be handed over to the family members only after positive identification. All the bodies were brought to the military hospital in Wellington after the helicopter crashed. Indian Air Force Group Captain Varun Singh was the only survivor of the incident who is undergoing treatment at an Army hospital. General Rawat's helicopter was travelling from Sulur to Wellington when the victim was in Kunoor. On Friday, the entire country bid a final farewell to the brave son of India with moist eyes. Several senior leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah had paid homage to the martyrs.
