Fire erupts at Shrimp Farm in Guntur, six Odisha workers burnt to death

Visakhapatnam: Six migrant laborers were burnt to death on Friday morning after an alleged short-circuit at a shrimp rearing center in Repalle in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Vishal Gunni, SP in Guntur district, said it appears that the fire broke out due to a short circuit. Gunny said our 'Clue team' is present at the spot and is collecting forensic evidence. Also said bleaching powder and other residues were also found there.

SP Vishal Gunni said that we are investigating the matter keeping in view all aspects. The clue team has to collect all the evidence related to the incident. He said prima facie nothing suspicious was found. We are questioning the power department and other department employees to ascertain the cause of the accident, Gunni said. He said the owner and manager of the shrimp rearing center have been taken into custody for questioning. All the workers killed in the accident were from Odisha.

Local leaders have condoled the tragic incident and demanded compensation to the next of kin of the deceased. Police are currently investigating the entire case.
