Ranchi: A 22-year-old married woman was gang-raped by six men in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said on Saturday. The police have registered a case in this regard. Two accused have also been arrested, while raids are being conducted to arrest others. Following a complaint by the woman's husband, Satbarwa police station in-charge Rishikesh Kumar Rai has sent the victim to MMCH Medininagar for medical examination.

The victim's family, who reached Satbarwa police station in the district, has said that the incident took place on Saturday night. The victim had left for her maternal home on foot after a dispute at her in-laws' house. In the evening, the in-laws came to convince her and take her back, but the woman did not agree. After this, the parents somehow convinced and sent their daughter to her in-laws' house with the son-in-law. Meanwhile, the victim's husband also called his brother-in-law to accompany him. Both of them started taking the married woman on a bike. When they reached Bhaluahi Valley, six unidentified miscreants stopped them, snatched their mobiles and bikes and assaulted the three. The accused gang-raped the woman for nearly four hours. During this time, the victim's husband was held hostage. The accused then left the victim's husband there and then took the other person, including the woman, on a bike to another place.

Meanwhile, the woman screamed when she saw a car in Sadhwadih village under Manika police station. This caused the bike to fall unbalanced. Villagers gathered after hearing the noise. The villagers nabbed the accused and beat them up. On the other hand, the other accused also fled leaving the captive woman's husband. The incident was reported to the police. The police reached the spot and arrested two of the accused. At the same time, the victim's husband reached the police station at night and gave a complaint. Family members say that the condition of the victim is very critical. She has been very scared since night. Satbarwa police have recovered a bike involved in the incident. An investigation has also been initiated into the matter.
