Mumbai: The movement of trains has been badly affected due to heavy rains in Mumbai. The Mahalakshmi Express is stuck between Badlapur and Wangni. The train has been stopped due to flooding on the track, the Central Railway has confirmed. About 700 passengers travelling in the train have been stranded due to the stopped. The NDRF team has reached the spot and is engaged in relief work. So far 600 people have been reported to be rescued. A team of about 37 doctors is also present on the spot.

According to Director General of Information and Public Relations, Maharashtra, Brajesh Singh, the boat has been utilized for rescue and relief operations. He appealed to the passengers to stay on the train and said there is no need to panic, the train is parked in a safe place. Two Air Force helicopters have also reached the spot to inspect the situation.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that 7 navy teams, 2 Air Force helicopters are present at the site and the situation is under control. Officials said, around 600 passengers have been evacuated and rescue operations are being carried out.
