Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) efforts to gain power in Punjab have suffered a major setback. While Delhi Chief Minister and AAP President Arvind Kejriwal seems confident of victory in Punjab, the entire unit of his party in Jalandhar has resigned. Before the assembly elections, it looks like everything is not going well in AAP.

In fact, a total of 65 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionaries in two assembly segments of Jalandhar have resigned from the party on Monday. The leaders have claimed that they have been forced to resign due to dictatorship in Punjab and lack of respect for local leaders. Among those who resigned from the AAP are ward president, divisional president, block president, coordinator and other local leaders and activists.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, former Party President Dr Shiv Dayal Mali said that 28 functionaries from Jalandhar West and 37 from Jalandhar Central Assembly constituency have sent their resignations to the party leadership. He said the entire state unit is being controlled by Delhi and local leaders have no freedom. He said most of the AAP MLAs elected in the 2017 assembly elections have already left the party due to the dictatorship of Delhi leaders.
