65th National Film Awards: Baahubali: The Conclusion bags Best Popular film award

The 65th National Film Awards is the announcement is going on by the jury being headed by renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. The 10-membered panel comprises the likes of Kannada director P Sheshadri, screenwriter Imtiaz Hussain, actor Gautami Tadimalla and lyricist Mehboob among others. 

The Awards are conducted by the government’s Directorate of Film Festivals. Amit V Masurkar's Newton has bagged the Best Hindi Film while Pankaj Tripathi has received a special mention for his performance. 

Last year, the jury was headed by filmmaker Priyadarshan last year and Akshay Kumar had bagged the Best Actor award for his performance in Rustom while Malayalam actor Surabhi Lakshmi won the Best Actress award for Minnaminungu. The winners are currently being announced. 

And as per the latest reports  Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is honored with Best Special Effects and best action director category awards. 

About - Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, also known as BB2, is an Indian fantasy action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli and written by his father K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. Released on 28 April 2017, the film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, while Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj appear in prominent roles.

The second cinematic part in the Baahubali franchise and the follow-up to Baahubali: The Beginning, the film is set in medieval India and follows the sibling rivalry between Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva; the latter conspires against the former and has him killed by Kattappa. Years later, Amarendra's son returns to avenge his death. The Conclusion was made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil and later dubbed into Hindi, Malayalam, Japanese and Russian.
