Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on Tuesday reported 68 cases, and the entire state together reported 190 new Covid infections and one death. 14 cases were reported in Medchal-Malkajgiri. With these cases, the cumulative total reached 670,643 and the death toll stood at 3,950. One hundred and eleven patients were cured of the virus in the state on Tuesday, taking the tally to 662,592. The officials conducted 41,388 Covid tests, while the results of 1,114 samples were awaited. So far the recovery rate has touched 98.79 percent; The mortality rate in the state is 0.58 percent.

The situation of COVID-19 in India is under control for the last 2 months. But, some states have seen a surge in new Covid-19 cases in the week following the festivities. With the emergence of new delta 'sub variants' in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the fear of a third wave of COVID-19 in the country has increased. New cases are on the rise despite mass vaccination, especially during the festive season, as many citizens have stopped following the safety protocols imposed by the government.

Meanwhile, India added 12,428 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 238 days, while the active cases declined to 1,63,816, according to data from the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. With the fresh cases, India's total Covid-1 tally rose to 3,42,02,202, while the death toll rose to 4,55,068 with 356 fresh fatalities, as per the data updated at 8 am. The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 31 straight days and below 50,000 for 120 consecutive days.
