NEW DELHI: This year India will celebrate 69th Republic Day. Republic Day is observed on January 26 to celebrate the day when the Indian Constitution formed. The day is commemorated in majesty in the national capital’s India Gate. This year, 100 non-government agencies will participate in the Republic Day parade preparations.This year 10 world leader of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) will witness the whole celebrations as a chief guest.
This is the first time when the Republic Day celebrations will host 10 chief guests. These world leaders are from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei.
PM Modi had made the invitation to the ASEAN world leaders to celebrate this Republic Day 2018 parade during his ASEAN-India Summit in November last year.
The worth of the ASEAN world leaders witnessing the event is that ASEAN completes 50 years of development and that India completes 25 years of its affiliation with the alliance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome the ASEAN leaders at the India Gate together with the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. The Republic Day parade is broadcasted live on the public service telecaster, Doordarshan. President Kovind will address the nation on the eve of Republic Day that is web telecasted on January 25.
This year's parade will observe participants not just from the Indian Armed forces, Air Force, Navy, but also there will be 700 students across the guest nations who will be performing at the 69th Republic Day event. 113 women from the Border Security Force (BSF) will also present stunts on motorcycles.
