72-year-old donates property worth Rs 5 crore as wife's last wish

Shimla: A retired doctor in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh donated his movable and immovable property worth crores of rupees to the government to fulfil his wife's last wish. The doctor reportedly had no children, so he donated properties worth more than Rs 5 crore. Since then the doctor's will has been in the news all over the area.

Dr Rajendra Kanwar, 72, a resident of Jolsappad village Sankar in Nadaun, retired from the health department and his wife Krishna Kanwar from the education department. His wife passed away a year ago. Both wanted to donate their movable and immovable property to the government as they had no children. To fulfil her wife's last wish, he sat down with relatives and interacted with them and decided to transfer the movable and immovable property to the government.
 
Dr Rajendra Kanwar has informed that people who are not accommodated in the house and who have to stumble from door to door in old age. For such people, the government should make arrangements for their stay in my house of crores. He told that this condition has been placed in the will made in the name of the government.
