72-year-old elephant 'Ambika' gifted to America has said goodbye to this world. This elephant was sent to America in 1961 from India. Sonian National Zoo mourns the death of Ambika, the eldest member of the elephant herd. Regarding this death, officials said on Saturday that Ambika, the third-oldest Asian elephant in North America, was killed in the Smithsonian National Zoo. "Ambika was indeed a giant in our conservation community," Stevensonfort of the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute said in a statement released by the zoo that the most beloved aged member of her Asian elephant herd was called Ambika on Friday Was given death.

In his statement, officials said that his health had deteriorated recently and there was no improvement of any kind in him. On Ambika's death, India's Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu tweeted that "May God give peace to the soul of Ambika, dear gift from India." Ambika was born in India around 1948. She was caught from the forest of Coorg when she was just eight years old. Till 1961 it was used to carry goods and after that it was given to America as a gift from the children of India. According to zoo officials, Ambika was undergoing treatment for bone disease, which was first discovered when she was 60 years old.
