New Delhi: On the occasion of 72nd Independence day, the nation is filled with the zeal of patriotism and on the day of 15 August, India celebrates its freedom day. India attained freedom from British rule in 1947. The Independence Day is celebrated with Prime Minister of the nation address from Red Fort in New Delhi and unfurling the national flag, along with parades and other government functions.

Fiji is the 1st place where Indian tricolour was hoisted on the 72nd Independence Day, today. INS Sahyadri paraded the Guard & the flag was hoisted by Vishwas Sapkal, High Commissioner of India to Fiji, with Capt Shantanu Jha, CO INS Sahyadri & Capt Manish Rai DA.
