New Delhi: Eight people were injured when houses collapsed in several places after torrential rains and thunderstorms lashed different parts of the country's capital Delhi on Monday morning. Fire Department officials have informed that houses collapsed in Jwalpuri, Gokalpuri, Shankar Road and Moti Nagar areas of Delhi.

 

According to the information received, on Monday morning, Delhi residents woke up amidst thunderstorms and rain, which definitely brought some relief for the people from the scorching heat. But due to this thunderstorm, trees were uprooted and traffic jams were reported in various parts near ITO, DND and AIIMS. The Meteorological Department said that it was the first moderate-intensity storm of this season. According to the fire department, three people suffered minor injuries when a house collapsed in west Delhi's Jwalapuri. 

 

All three have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for treatment. He said that information about a house that collapsed in Jwalapuri was received at 5.51 am. Immediately after this two fire tenders were sent to the spot. Similarly, another house that collapsed in Gokulpuri in North-East Delhi was also reported after which two fire tenders were sent to the spot. Director of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg said that no one was injured in the incident.
