Lucknow: Eight policemen, including the CO, were killed in a fierce shootout at a police team that went on a rampage late night in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh to arrest notorious miscreants. However, two miscreants were killed by the police in an encounter on Friday morning. The incident stirred the entire state. ADG Jai Narayan Singh has confirmed this. Many soldiers have been admitted to the Regency for treatment in a very serious condition. Police officers from several police stations have reached the spot.

The incident is of Bikeru village under the Chaubepur police station area in Kanpur. At around 12.30 pm on Thursday night, the Bithoor and Chaubepur police raided the home of History Sheeter Vikas Dubey in a joint operation. Bithoor SO Kaushalendra Pratap Singh said that Vikas and his associates started firing at the police. Bullets were fired from inside the house and from the roofs.

The police have surrounded the village after the incident. RAF has been deployed in the village. On Friday morning, two miscreants hiding in the forests of Bikeru in Chaubepur have been piled into an encounter by the police. Two police personnel have also been injured in retaliation. Police are conducting a search operation to find other miscreants.
