New Delhi: To prevent the spread of Corona, the lockdown has been imposed across the country, but this has created a crisis of livelihood in front of migrant labourers. They travelled to the house on foot. In view of this, the government ran labor special trains for them. From May 1 to May 27, 3840 special trains were run through which about 50 lakh migrant labourers reached their homes. But many of the unfortunate oned died before reaching their destination.
A newspaper quoted RPF as saying that between May 9 and May 27, about 80 people died in these trains. But the Railway Ministry says that most of the people who died in trains were suffering from serious illnesses. They had come to the cities for treatment and were stuck there due to the lockdown. Earlier there were reports that fatigue, heat and hunger have resulted in the deaths of passengers.
Confirming the death of about 80 people while travelling in trains, an RPF official said that a preliminary list has been made. After coordination with the states, the final list will be ready soon. When the railway spokesperson was asked about this, he said that the chairman of the railway board had answered this in his press briefing.
On Friday, Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav said in a press conference, 'Death of anyone is a big loss. Railways have control systems. Under this, if someone in the train suffers or die, the train stops immediately and the patient is rushed to the nearest hospital. Many such travellers were treated and many women also gave birth to children. As far as deaths are concerned, the local zones investigate the reasons behind this. Without investigation, allegations are being made that the deaths occurred due to hunger, while there was no shortage of food in trains. There have been some deaths. We are preparing a report in this regard which will be released in the coming days.
