New Delhi:  Claiming to be the legal heir to a wakf property acquired by the Uttar Pradesh government, a senior citizen has moved the Supreme Court seeking compensation for land worth Rs 510 crore. In the petition filed in the top court, it was submitted on behalf of the petitioner that Alim Akhtar was an 80-year-old legal heir who had claimed compensation of Rs 510 crore. Which was rejected by the District Magistrate Fatehpur. There has also been a demand for relief.

The plea challenged the Allahabad High Court order, saying the court refused compensation even after the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation (LRR) Act, 2013. The plea said the Allahabad High Court had made a gross mistake in concluding that the petitioner owned the land 110 years ago.

The petition said that the High Court had erred in not paying compensation in respect of the property. It said that the state should calculate the compensation as per the law, it should give it. The petition said that in fact, the petitioner's ancestor Mohammad Hasan was the owner of the property about which it was certified.
