Chaitra Navratri is observed in the Hindu month of Chaitra that befalls at the duration of spring and summer season. It is a nine-day festival devoted to nine forms of Goddess Shakti. These nine forms are invoked and the followers also keep a nine-day fast. This year, Chaitra Navratri is celebrated from March 18, Sunday, to March 26, Monday.
Rama Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama, falls on a ninth day during Navratri festival. Chaitra Navratri is therefore also associated with Rama Navratri. Chaitra Navratri is more traditional in northern India.

The different names of this festival are Vasanta Navratri (commemorating the spring season) or Rama Navratri (also dedicated to the birth of Lord Rama). The top highlight of the festival is celebrating the nine forms of Goddess Durga.

On each of the days, Durga Sapta Sati, Lalita Sahasranam and other sacred chants of Maa Durga are been chanted. After the puja is over, the Prasad is shared among the participants. Gifting maiden girls with the objects they desire during the course of Navratri days is believed to win the blessings of Ma Durga.
