Recently, a case of crime has come to light from Telangana. A court here in the case has sentenced the convict in the rape and murder case of a nine-month-old girl in Warangal district to death within two months of the offence. According to reports, the police in the case said that the trial in the sensational case had begun on July 24 and Jayakumar, the First Additional Sessions Judge of Warangal, had completed the hearing within two weeks and delivered his verdict on Thursday.

On the other hand, the judge, after hearing the final arguments of the prosecution and defence on Thursday, first convicted the accused P Praveen in the rape and murder case and then sentenced him to death after a brief adjournment.

On the other hand, the police said that "the convict has been sentenced to death under the POCSO Act in addition to Section 302 and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code." The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him. According to police, the girl was sleeping with her parents on the roof of her house in Hanamkonda in the wee hours of June 19.

"In the meantime, Praveen picked her up and took her to a deserted place and raped her and killed her. Praveen, who lives in the same area, was arrested on June 19 after interrogation and was later remanded to judicial custody. The trial of the case began on July 24 and the testimony of witnesses was taken within six working days," Warangal Police Commissioner V. Ravindra told PTI-Bhasha over the phone, "The court has awarded the death sentence. This is an excellent decision... We examined the case on the basis of witness testimonies and scientific and medical evidence."
