NEW DELHI: The nine-year trial in the murder of Talwar’s daughter 14-year-old  Aarushi had left the Talwar couple emotionally tired, Nupur Talwar's father said on Thursday, thanking the judiciary system for acquitting them.

BG Chitnis, an ex-group captain in the Indian Air Force, said it was very difficult for him to see his daughter, Nupur and her husband Rajesh behind the jail.

"I am grateful to the judiciary for the judgment. They (the Talwar couple) have really suffered. They are emotionally drained. At my age it was very difficult to see my daughter behind bars," he told reporters here.

Vandana Talwar, Aarushi's aunt, said the whole family had suffered badly for almost a decade as the case dragged on.

"It was very draining and difficult ...," she said.

She rejects to go into the merits of the case and the verdict, saying the couple's lawyers would answer questions on who killed Aarushi and their household helper Hemraj.

"We are extremely grateful to the judiciary and pleased over the verdict. I would like to thank all the supporters who hold up us through the long ordeal," she said.

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday acquitted the Talwar couple after the nine-year ordeal, saying they could not be guilty on the basis of the evidence on record and CBI Theory.

The judgment ends the trial of the parents who were found guilty by a CBI court in the thrilling double murder case.
