Guwahati (Assam) [India], Feb 3 (NT) Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Guwahati to address the inaugural session of Advantage Assam-Global Investors Summit 2018.

PM Narendra Modi visited an exhibition at Advantage Assam - Global Investors Summit 2018 in Guwahati. Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay also accompanied with PM Modi

PM Modi took his twitor handle to inform about the global Summit as saying “The @AdvantageAssam Summit will focus on vital sectors including power, agriculture and food processing, IT, transportation, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles & handicrafts and tourism. Such a summit will contribute towards fulfilling the aspirations of Assam's youth”, PM tweeted.

Modi assured that summit will advantage to economies in South and South East Asia “Looking forward to joining the @AdvantageAssam Summit in Guwahati tomorrow. I congratulate the Assam Government for organising this Summit, which will showcase Assam's investment potential, particularly in manufacturing and services to economies in South and South East Asia,” PM tweeted

The two-day event, commencing today, will showcase the entire state's manufacturing opportunities and geostrategic advantages to foreign and domestic investors.

The Summit has been organized by the Assam Government, in association with the industry body the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), aspiring to position the state as India's Expressway to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

There are several focus sectors, identified by the state, which include agriculture and food processing, organic farming, bamboo, handloom, textile and handicrafts, inland water transport, riverfront development, and logistics. (NT)
