Afghanistan President arrives in India, will hold bilateral talks to PM Modi

New Delhi [India], Sep 18 (NT): Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani arrived India on September 19, Wednesday. He will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a number of issues of mutual interest.

Issues pertaining to regional security, trade and India's development work in Afghanistan will also come up for deliberations on round table. The two leaders are likely to review the progress made on the infrastructure work being done by the Indian side in Afghanistan.

During his one-day visit to India, India Foundation which is an independent research centre, will hold a civic reception in his respect.

President of Afghanistan is warmly welcomed by Minister of State Housing and Urban Development Hardeep S Puri upon his arrival in the national capital New Delhi.

Taking to official Teitter handle EAM spokesperson Raveesh Kumar wrote, “A strategic partnership since 2011 that has gone from strength to strength! President of Afghanistan, @ashrafghani warmly welcomed by Minister of State Housing and Urban Development @HardeepSPuri upon his arrival in Delhi”.

The India visit of Afghani Pres comes just days after both nations agreed to boost cooperation under the New Development Partnership as part of which New Delhi had declared taking up 116 high impact community developmental projects in the war-torn nations.

 Worth mention here the decision to enhance cooperation and work in partnership on infrastructure and high impact community development projects had been taken at the third conference of the Joint Working Group on Political and Security Cooperation between India and Afghanistan in Kabul last week.
