Ex- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh Yadav has been designated as the national president of Samajwadi Party for a five-year term. As Akhilesh Yadav keeps the pedals of SP, it is clear that the 2019 Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections in 2022 will be apprehended under his president ship.

LUCKNOW: The two militaristic splinter group of the Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav respectively, will meet in Lucknow after the party's national conference at Agra on Thursday.

The meeting, whose date will be set later, was finalized after a telephonic converse between Akhilesh and Shivpal on Tuesday evening. Shivpal passed on good wishes to Akhilesh in advance on his election as the party president for five-year term at the SP's Agra meet.

"I spoke to him on Tuesday evening and congratulated him in advance on his election as party chief," Shivpal told TOI. Akhilesh invited Shivpal to the Agra convention, but the latter declined on the ground that he was neither an office-bearer of the party nor a delegate. "We have, however, agreed to meet after the Agra convention," said Shivpal.

Sources put up the shutters to Shivpal said he was unhappy over the manner in which Mulayam had recently announced his support to the SP. During his conference with Mulayam, Shivpal apparently asked him about what to do next since Mulayam had already publicized support for the party.
