Amarnath pilgrims were not allowed to go beyond Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Sunday after seeing the possibility of any untoward incident due to the death anniversary of Burhan Wani in the Valley.

Now the journey will start again on Monday. On Sunday, passengers already present in Baltal and Pahalgam base camps were sent to the holy cave. Meanwhile 11th day 11282 Shiv devotees visited the temple. Visitors' figure has reached 94,412. 

Thousands of tourists and Amarnath pilgrims stranded on Sunday due to safety reasons shutting the movement of vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. In the afternoon, only one thousand trucks which were stopped in Ramban for the valley were sent to private vehicles only. The base camp was not sent to the group of Amarnath pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. The movement of vehicles was also closed on the Mughal road connecting Rajouri and Poonch with Kashmir.

By late evening, about 2500 passengers had reached. Passengers traveling directly from the highways with private vehicles were stopped at other locations including Nagrota. This forced the police and traffic police personnel to resist the passengers. 

Today, after 11.30 am, vehicles are not allowed will not be allowed in JK from all over the country, about twenty thousand Amarnath pilgrims had to stay at different places in the last seven days. According to the Highway Traffic Police, vehicles will not be allowed for the valley after 11.30 am on Monday. 

Mr. Amang Narula, CEO, Amarnath Shrine Board informed that on behalf of the board, Rs. 3.62 lakhs were made available to the passengers stranded in the Panjartani from Micro ATM of JK Bank.
