Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agrawal on Tuesday had brought to the notice of the assembly that following the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, wages of MPs was less than their own secretaries. He, therefore, made a demand for raising wages and allowances of Members of Parliament (Mps).

"There is no industrial growth, while the state of revenue is very bad. This salary hike is disgusting," Narayanan Thirupathy, spokesperson of the state BJP, told CNN-News18. The saffron party also demanded that the principal Opposition party DMK oppose the pay hike.
