NEW DELHI: The chairman of Reliance Group and Billionaire industrialist Anil Ambani had denied all allegations that his company lacked sufficient experience to get the Rafale fighter jet deal while also asserting that the Centre had no role in French Group Dassault selecting his business enterprise as a home partner.
Anil Ambani had stated this in a two-page letter addressed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi nearly eight months back in which also sought to give details why his group caught the multi-billion dollar project.
In the letter, which was written on December 12, 2017, Ambani also appealed to his family's respectful bonds with the Gandhi family over generations and noted that he was personally saddened by the unfortunate remarks against him and his group by a number of workers of the grand old Congress party.
"Not only do we have the necessary experience but we are also the leaders in several important areas of defence manufacture," Anil said in the letter as quoted by Zee news.
The letter was written by Anil on the last day of campaigning for the Gujarat assembly polls that was marked by political meddling over the Rafale fighter jet deal. The younger brother of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani claimed that the Reliance Defense has the largest shipyard in the private sector at Pipavav in Gujarat and is at present building five Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPVs) for the Indian Navy and 14 Fast Patrol Vessels for the Indian Coast Guard.
