Arushi -Hemraj murder case: Supreme Court admits CBI's appeal against the acquittal of Talwars

New Delhi:The Supreme Court of India admitted the appeal filed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in most mysterious Arushi Talwar murder case against acquittal of Talwar couple .They were accused in twin murder case of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj  . It has issued noticed to the duo in the double-murder case and granted leave, which effectively means the appeal won't be heard for at least two years now.

Worth mention here the CBI had challenged the SC ruling in May this year. A bench comprises of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph stated the appeal will be heard along with the petition filed by Hemraj’s wife.

The dentist couple was found not guilty of all charges by the High Court in October 2017. The court had ruled that the prosecution failed to prove its hypothesis that the Talwars, who were the only ones at home at the time, had committed the twin murder. The Talwars had relesed of Ghaziabad’s Dasna jail on October 12, 2017.

14 year old Aarushi was found with her throat slit in her room at the Talwars’ home in Noida in May 2008. The police at first suspected 45-year-old Hemraj, the domestic helper. However, his body was found from the terrace two days later. The inquiry was then handed over the CBI by the BSP superemo and then CM of UP Mayawati.
