Compulsory for Govt employees to take care of parents and differently abled siblings: Assam Govt

As per the recent information provided, the Assam government would very soon execute a law in the state. The law shall most probably be executed by the 2nd of October. Under the law, it has been stated that every Government employee in the state will have to take care of their old parents and also their differently abled siblings if any.

In the previous year, the employees were made to go the Assam Employees Parents Responsibility and Norms for Accountability and Monitoring (PRANAM) Bill, 2017. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the minister of Assam asserted that if a government employee does not take proper care of his parents and differently abled sibling who does not earn, then an amount equivalent to 10 percent of their total salary shall be deducted and be given to their parents. Addressing the media, Biswa affirmed, "If a particular government employee does not take good care of his or her parents then we will deduct 10 percent from their salary and transfer it to their parents' account."

He later added, "If there is any sibling that the parents need to take care of then the salary cut may go up to 15%."
