elbourne: Defending champion Roger Federer marched into another Australian Open semifinal after he scored the victory over Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic in a straight-set contest.
Second seed Federer has overcome a slow start to demolish his Czech opponent in the quarterfinal match played in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Wednesday. This is Roger’s 14th Australian Open semifinals. 
Playing against 19th seed 32-year-old Czech counterpart, 36-year-old Swizz giant scored 7-6 (7-1) 6-3 6-4 victory in a match which lasted for two hours. It was 10th Grand Slams meeting with eight victories in favour of Federer.
Federer next to face Hyeon Chung, a 21-year-old unseeded South Korean in the last four stage of slam on Friday, while in another semifinal clash, Britain's Kyle Edmund will take on sixth seed Marin Cilic of Croatia on Thursday.
This was Federer’s second straight set victory against Czech player after he recently overcomes him in 2017 Wimbledon semi-final in a similar fashion.
In the first set, Federer was down 2-5, before he back into the action and complete first set 7-6 (7-1). After the first set slow start, Federer never looked back and scored a victory in remaining two set by 6-3, 6-4.
After today’s quarterfinal win, Federer becomes the oldest man to reach the semi-finals here since Ken Rosewell in 1977.
After Federer applaud his opponent saying, "I was just frustrated and a bit antsy. I'm happy I got out of that first set. It ended up being key to the match. Tomas was great."
