Nawaz Sharif family’s request for bail in the Avenfield properties case is rejected by The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani also issued a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to present their action on the plea that was filed by Sharif’s family to suspend their conviction. Moreover, NAB also ordered to present a full record of the Avenfield properties case in next hearing.
Worthy to mention that Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar appealed for bail in the Avenfield properties case in which the former PM was sentenced for ten years with eight million pounds while her daughter sentenced for seven years with the fine of two million pounds. Safdar who was absent at the time of verdict got imprisonment for one year without any due.
A two-judge division bench also dismissed the appeal filed by Sharif's legal counsel Khawaja Haris to put stay on the hearing of Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references till NAB will present its reports. The council claimed that accountability court judge can’t start the hearing as the cases are similar to the previous one in which they already got the conviction. Notably, the next hearing was scheduled for July’s last week by IHC.
Reportedly, Adiala jail in Rawalpindi will witness the further proceeding of remaining two cases as the same was notified by Pakistan's Ministry of Law and Justice.
