Tejashwi Yadav, son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) head Lalu Prasad Yadav, has targeted BJP for accusing his father in false cases on Monday.

“People of BJP & NDA fear that if Lalu ji comes out of jail then they'll lose 125 seats in 2019 elections. Had Lalu ji compromised with BJP, he would have got the tag of Raja Harish Chandra. Just because we raise our voice against BJP, they've put false cases on us,” said Tejashwi Yadav while speaking to the media.

Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in the fodder scam on Monday by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday. Eighteen other people were also convicted with Yadav in the case pertaining to the illegal withdrawal of Rs. 3.13 crore from Dumka treasury.

This is Lalu Prasad Yadav’s fourth conviction in the fodder scam. He has two more such cases against him. The case related to withdrawal of funds from various treasuries in Bihar, which was ruled by the RJD then.

Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently locked up in the Ranchi jail. Due to the conviction in the case, he can no longer contest elections or hold public offices.

Lalu Prasad Yadav will challenge the verdict in the High Court.
