BMC blows up actor Shah Rukh Khan's illegitimate canteen

MUMBAI: The BMC has blown up illegal canteen of actor Shah Rukh Khan's production house, Red Chillies, at Malad (West) on Thursday.

Khan has roofed an open terrace adjacent to his office and renewed it into canteen which was a fire trap said BMC official.

Khan along with his wife, Gauri, is owners of Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd and they have paid for entire fourth floor of a 16-storey DLH Park Building at Sunder Nagar in Malad for production work. Khan has converted the terrace measuring around 2,000 square ft connected to the floor into canteen for his staff and office guests. Around 316 staffs were functioning in the office.

As per Red Chillies talking head, "Red chillies Vfx is a tenant and not the owner of the property mentioned. The building has an open area outside with seating which employees make use of eating food that they get from home. It is not an operational canteen. However, due to a misunderstanding, the part which the BMC destroyed is the energy saving solar panels which gave clean energy to the entire Vfx division.

Assistant municipal commissioner and ward officer Chanda Jadhav said, "The terrace need to be remain open to sky, but they have converted it into usable area. They have roofed the terrace which is violation of FSI rule and fire safety norms."
