Driver injured, traffic disrupted

Over 20 passengers of a BMTC bus runaway by a whisker after the driver lost control and collided with the vehicle into the divider on the busy Kasturba Road on Tuesday morning. The driver, recognized as Rudramuni, continued minor injuries and was admitted to hospital.

The bus was moving towards Shivaji Nagar from K.R. Market when the driver nowhere to be found control. Due to the impact, a part of the divider was getting out and the bus changed direction on the opposite side of the road. The Cubbon Park traffic police rushed to the spot and removed the bus with the help of a crane and fixed the divider.

BMTC officials also arrived at the spot and arranged another bus for the passengers and commuters to reach their destination. Traffic was disrupted for some time as the police had to block one portion of the road to clear the road.

The driver of the bus alleged that a steering lock leads to the accident. The technical team of the BMTC is finding out the cause.
