Sunday was a fortunate day for India as India’s star wrestler Bajrang Punia and Pinki won gold medals at the Yasar Dogu International in Istanbul. Sandeep Tomar also won the silver medal in 61 Kg final.

Indian Wrestlers bagged 10 medals in which Indian women bagged seven medals. Although Indian wrestlers performed very well in the tournament it was a disappointing performance from Sakshi Malik who failed to grab any medal.

Earlier this month also Bajrang Punia won a gold at Tbilisi Grand Pix in Georgia and once again he has proved himself by bagging gold. In70 Kg final bount Abdriy KvatKovskyy from Ukraine withdrew from the 70 Kg due to an injury.

Sandeep lost 2-8 to Mohammadbagher Yakhkeshi of Iran and settled for silver in 61 Kg final. Vicky also settled on a bronze medal in 57 Kg category. All other players Amit, Jitendra, Pawan, Deepak and jashkawar Singh failed to qualify to medal round.

Indian women Pinki achieved victory over Ukraine’s Olga Shnaidar in the final in 55 Kg category with 6-3. In 62 Kg Sarita won a bronze with a big difference of 10-0 win over Turkey’s Cansu Aksoy. Phogat sister Sangeeta and Geeta also won a bronze medal in their respective categories. Rajni finished second after losing the final 3-4 to Bestie Aitug.
